We have pleasure in releasing the information and entry details for the 2012 David McKay Rally which will be held in Tasmania from the 19th to 24th March 2012.

This is the 4th David McKay Rally which has been organised and it promises to be the best yet. As with each previous David McKay Rally, it is open to V12 carburettor Ferraris. We have found some fantastic driving roads in Tasmania; in fact, we think the best roads that we have every found for our Rallies.  As with our previous Rallies, we will combine good driving with great food, the best accommodation available and company (provided by you!).

Our philosophy in organising the David McKay Rally remains the same as it has always been. Ray, Peter and I initially organised this event (with Ian Gow) because we saw a gap in organising an event of this sort and wanted to see a gathering of these cars. However, one of the real joys we have had in organising the last 3 Rallies is also to see the friendships that have developed between the owners of these cars. We do not organise this event to make a profit and it is strictly run by Ray, Peter and I on a “not for profit” basis to cover its costs only.

We are also very grateful to Clive Smith who has organise through the immense generosity of Bob Oatley for another holiday to Hamilton Island as a prize for the Rally- as we had with the last David McKay Rally. Thank you to both Bob and Clive.

You will see, we have coincided the Rally to start the day after the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne on 18th March 2011. We are currently looking at options for packages to the AGP for those who are interested in coming down early and enjoying the Race prior to commencing the Rally. We will send around details shortly.

The run will go through the upper Yarra Valley and Dandenong Hills and end up at the Yarck Tea Rooms, which has some of Victoria’s best Italian food (a number of you will remember the fantastic meal we had there last year).
